Welcome!

Lake Tahoe Education Foundation, in collaboration with the extraordinary facilities of South Tahoe High School, would like to welcome you to beautiful South Lake Tahoe and the home of the Digital Photo Institute (DPI). During this weekend Institute, you will be entranced by the state of the art facilities and excellent instruction you will receive. In addition, you will be able to take part in sunrise photography shoots as well as sunset shoots, and studio figure photography while fine-tuning your skills as a photographer! This Institute accepts beginning, intermediate and advanced students.

Friday Evening, June 29th, 2012

Begin your weekend experience while enjoying beverages and snacks while listening to professional Photographer Tim Peare's presentation! Tim is a professional snowboarding photographer who is employed by Forum Snowboards. His exceptional work will inspire students while focusing on special techniques he has implemented over the years.

Saturday, June 30th, 2012

Students will jumpstart their day with an early morning photo shoot. The rest of the day will be spent learning about photographic techniques and applying their knowledge in the digital photo lab. In addition, students will have the opportunity to finish their intensive Saturday with a sunset shoot. Both the sunrise and sunset shoots will be lead by experienced Digital Photography facultyand hands-on lab aides to assist students.

Sunday, July 1st, 2012

A light continental breakfast will be followed by digital photo lab work to complete your weekend projects. The morning will end with your printing and displaying your photographs and awards will be given to the top four projects.

Curriculum

The course will cover a multitude of topics such as:

  • Self portrait photography
  • Camera basics
  • How to interface your camera with the computer
  • Natural lighting and artificial lighting
  • How to photograph models
  • Off-site shooting basics
  • Dealing with bad lighting scenarios
  • Macro photo editing
  • Lab work
  • Camera functions and options

Students will be given the choice of enrolling in
Beginning or Intermediate/Advanced levels of the Digital Photography Institute.
